Sensory Bean Bags

At GreatBeanBags, we’ve been manufacturing sensory bean bags, in our Nottingham UK facility, for many years, and sell a large number through our retail partners. They can be found both in the homes of families like yours, and in care and education settings.

We have learnt how incredibly difficult life can be for children (and the families of children) with sensory processing difficulties and the neurodevelopmental disorders of which they are a feature, and are proud to offer a product to help children navigate their hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity to texture/feel at home.

What is a Sensory Bean Bag?

A sensory bean bag is a bean bag specifically designed to meet the needs of children with sensory processing difficulties.

The construction of our models, and the materials chosen, provide your child with tactile feedback and deep pressure sensory input, to help reduce their anxiety, discomfort, frustration, and support relaxation.

Each model in our range of sensory bean bags is made from a waterproof, antimicrobial fabric used in the healthcare space, and features taped seams and tensioned zip flaps to block the ingress of fluids.

This technical textile (which we go into further detail about below) and sealed design, makes our sensory models urine-resistant and easy to wipe down. Accidents are no problem!

We offer four sensory bean bag models, which are each manufactured from our waterproof antimicrobial fabric:

• Sensory Chair - available in 5 sizes ranging from small to XXL.
• Bench bean bag - better suited to reclined positions, also available in 5 sizes.
• Slab bean bag (floor cushion) - available in two sizes,small and medium.
• Stool - available in a single standard size.

Each model is available in 13 colours, ranging from greens, to pink, yellow, orange and blue, to grey, brown, black, white and beyond, so you can find a bean bag that is as attractive as it is helpful.

More About the Material

The technical fabric used across our entire range of sensory bean bags is waterproof, flame retardant to relevant standards, and resistant to damage with an abrasion resistance measurement of 200,000 Martindale.

It’s also antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial, and will repel bacteria like, Aspergillus Niger, E Coli, Altinata, Salmonella, Penicillium, Staphylococcus Aureus, Cladosporium Herbarum, to help protect your child’s health.

The fabric is easy to clean, made from polyurethane (fabric face) and polycotton (fabric back), and should be wiped regularly with a damp cloth or sponge, using warm water and a mild alkaline-free soap.
